Kamala Beach Hotels & Resorts

Isolation on Phuket can be tricky to find but one of the few places you can track it down is at Kamala. With crisp white sand, warm light blue sea and palm trees hanging lazily on the edges of the beach this is a classic Phuket destination but with one major difference; it avoids the mass tourism of places such as the close by Patong.

Many of the Kamala resorts are particularly popular with Thai holiday makers and this is one of reasons it manages to steer clear of the uglier side of Phuket's tourist trade. Another upside to this is the presence of authentic and delicious Thai food. Plenty of restaurants serve up fantastic Thai treats for you to indulge in. During the off-season Kamala, like some of Phuket's other West coast beaches, turns into a part time surf destination. The waves here are a bit more challenging than other beaches but are well worth having a go on. After all, who could turn down the idea of surfing in Thailand! Even when the waves are gently rolling in there are still opportunities to swim undisturbed.

If you fancy a break from the beach or the Kamala hotels, head to Kamala Friday Market which sells the best of exotic Thai produce alongside a sprinkling of electronics and other bits and pieces. Alternatively spend an evening at Phuket Fantasea Park. Full to the brim with cultural Thai entertainment incorporating elephants, pyrotechnics and much more; it's a full-on sensory experience.
